From April 17th to 24th, more than 100 undergraduate students attended the field investigation. They are from School of Social Development, majoring in History and Museum, and from School of Education, majoring in History Teaching. Under the guidance of professional teachers from both schools, who are Jin Zhang (History Department Director), Aimin Guo (Vice President of School of Social Development), Yanli Gui, Xiaoying Shen and Jing Zhi, the investigation group carried out a-week-long investigation in Henan and Shanxi Province.
Combined the characteristics of history learning with the requirements of teaching methods, the investigation group visited Longmen Grottoes, Banpo Museum, Shanxi History Museum, Terracotta Army and many other important historical sites and museums. Through the on-the-spot investigation, students not only gain knowledge on exquisite murals, painted pottery and rich funerary objects, but also learn about Yangshao culture in the Neolithic Age and the development of matriarchal clan in the primitive society. The investigation tour proves to be an effective and impressive way to learn history.
The investigation tour is an important content of field activities for students major in History and Museum. The tour also inspires students to think about historical issues and deepens friendship among teachers and students as well. After the investigation, students say that they not only appreciate the rich history and cultural heritage of China, but also feel moved by the revolutionary spirit held by martyrs in modern China.
