On the morning of 16^th March, three volunteers from Youth Volunteers’ Association arrived at “Love Twilight” retirement home with the lead of Ruofan Yang, the member of project department. They brought care and happiness to the old.

First, Yingwen Xu and Rezya went to Sharon and played football game with grannies. They carefully helped nurses pass big rubber balls to let each old man join in. The spring has descended in Nanjing in March and it was a nice day. Staffs decided to bring the old out to bask and relax. We pulled the armchair out of the room. After the old got on the car, we “motorcade” took off. The retirement home has many trees and a small artificial lake. Each of us pushed an armchair and went around. Qianqian Yang found the old man she took care of was cold. She talked to the nurse and sent the old man back to room. The old came to a small space. A nurse played the song Sweet. Some old men danced with nurses. Although they just raised their arms and made a few dancing steps, it was obvious that the old are very happy. Some old man are not capable or not willing to dance. They just chat with volunteers. Rezya is a girl from Sinkiang and was good at dancing. She performed traditional dance and I think it would be better to have her folk costume on. At last, we pushed the old back to the retirement home. They were to have lunch. The volunteers had to say goodbye to them.

I hope that every old man have somebody to accompany them and it’s also the spirit of “Love Twilight”. The patience and love volunteers reviewed during the activity is the precious quality of college students. They also started to think about the relationship between them and their parents in the future, which benefit them a lot. (Feng Wang from Teachers’ Education School)
