On March 31, the activity of " a face-to-face interview between famous teachers, principals in Jiangsu and normal university students " was successfully held in the concert hall in guangyue building of Xianlin campus.

The interview was hosted by Jiangsu Provincial Education Department, Jiangsu Provincial Education Talent Service Center and Nanjing Normal University. More than 300 students from Nanjing Normal University, Jiangsu Second Normal University, Nanjing Xiaozhuang University, Nanjing College of Special Education and other universities, who major in education, gathered together and had face-to-face interviews with famous teachers and principals. Hu Jianping, director of Jiangsu Provincial Education Talent Service Center, Li li, director of Student Affairs Office of Nanjing Normal University and other leaders attended the event.

 

This activity invited three special guests, who respectively were You Xiaoping, the principal of Nanjing First High School, appointed mathematics senior teacher, secondary professor of Jiangsu province, Nanjing’s top ten young teachers, discipline leader in mathematics in Nanjing, as well as Zhang Cheng, who is the executive vice President of the affiliated high school of China University of Mining, middle school senior teacher in politics, member of the Provincial Examination Institute, and the national excellent teacher. Chen Jing, the representative of excellent teachers, was also invited. She is the vice principal of Zhenjiang Sixth Middle School, the national outstanding teacher, the national outstanding teacher of moral education of primary and secondary schools. This year, she attended the conference hosted by Xi Jinping, the general secretary, which involved excellent teachers teaching moral education courses in colleges and universities.

The topic of the interview was "the growth path of excellent teachers in the new era". At the beginning of the activity, three guests shared their understanding of "excellent teachers".

President You believed that "excellent teachers" should have "love, sunshine, dedication, elegance and grace", while President Zhang believed that "upright morality and kindness to students, tenacious learning and keen action" were important standards for "excellent teachers". As a representative who attended the National Symposium of Ideological and Political Education Teacher Conference, President Chen believed that the teachers should shoulder the responsibility of cultivating the "roots and soul" for students. She hoped that normal university students can become good teachers with warmth, so as to be "virtuous, promising and constant".

 

Subsequently, the three principals introduced their own teaching experience and growth path, and imparted relevant experience to the students present.

 

They pointed out that compared with the "administrative work", teachers should focus more on the profession and have a clear and clear plan for the professional road. When teachers go to work, they need to learn to adjust their mentality, to maintain lifelong learning. At the same time, teachers should always be grateful for every opportunity and the support and encouragement of the companions around. Principal You shared his suggestions on the development of the new teacher training scheme. He stressed that the excellent teacher team is the focus of the school, and the school should provide guidance teachers in various stages for new teachers in different aspects such as subject development, class management, work plan and life goal, so as to make them well lead the teaching life.

In terms of the selection of the undergraduate examination and the postgraduate entrance examination, President You thinks that the evaluation of a teacher is mainly based on his ability and accomplishment he shows. So there is little difference between the two. Principle Zhang, on the other hand, recommends that students go to graduate school. He believes that a high degree does not mean a high level of education, but it means a longer period of education. And students should seize the youth to absorb more knowledge. As for the questions that often make students feel difficult in the trial lecture and interview in teacher recruitment, the three principals pointed out that the greater the challenge, the greater the opportunity, and the truly outstanding students can stand out in these two links. Normal university students should pay attention to cultivating the ability to analyze problems at daily times, and they should think frequently and express more, so as to have textbooks and students in mind.

 

During the Q&A session, the principals patiently answered the students' questions. As for the internship, President You stressed that two kinds of preparations should be made before the internship: First, it’s psychological preparation, which means that you have to pay much attention on teaching mentally; Second, it’s professional knowledge preparation, which means that you need to have a full understanding of the teaching materials, and students should actively strive for more teaching opportunities in the process of internship. As for how to select and cultivate excellent students, the principals pointed out that it is very important to set up courses that are conducive to students' lifelong development. Teachers should pay attention to the connection between the middle school and the university. Finally, the three principals sent sincere messages to the normal students present.

 

After the interview, representatives of the students majoring teaching education from 21 universities in the province had the oath. They made their right hand clenched fists, and were solemn. They said every oath one sentence after another: "I volunteer to become a people's teacher. I’m loyal to the party's education career, and I comply with the education laws and regulations, and will fulfill their duties of teaching. I’ll also lead students to healthy growth, and achieve ideal faith, moral sentiment, as well as have solid knowledge. I also have the heart of love, and I won’t forget the initial mind. I’ll strive for education development, national prosperity and rejuvenation!" The powerful oath and the right fists are not only the self-expectation of every new teacher, but also the solemn commitment to the students, the school and education.

Through the teacher development exchange conference, the students majoring in teaching education who were present understood the current situation of the reform of basic education and teaching. They solved a series of practical problems they care about, mastered the relevant knowledge and skills, and strengthened the belief of becoming teachers.
