Teacher Education School "Red Candle" Youth Association held"I am a Reader" Volunteer Activity in Phoenix Bookstore
On November 17, volunteers from the Red Candle Youth Association of Teacher Education School arrived at Phoenix International Bookstore on time for a weekly "I'm a Reader" event. The main introduction of this event is the traditional festivals in China.

Although the projector can't be used because of the device, we can only use the computer to play PPT and video. Our activities start at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on time.
Wang Jingwen, a volunteer teacher, asked the children what traditional Chinese festivals they knew, which led to the content of the activity. Children actively raised their hands and rushed to answer, childish words caused a laugh on the field. After that, the children watched two videos about the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival and the Double Ninth Festival. Through the video, the children had a better understanding of these two festivals. According to the content of each video, the volunteer teachers also asked five questions to examine the children's mastery. For example, in the video about Mid-Autumn Festival, who saved the people? Who is going to rob Xiandan? How did this story finally evolve into the Mid-Autumn Festival? The children were very active, answering questions loudly with the microphone. If a child has something incomplete to say, others would immediately raise their hands to help her. Finally, the children learned two ancient poems about the New Year. One is New Night by Dai Fugu of the Song Dynasty and the other is Yuan Ye by Wang Anshi of the Song Dynasty. We all recited these two ancient poems. Our activity ended satisfactorily in the lovely sound of reading
This event introduced two traditional Chinese festivals for children. We hope that children not only think about the festival's food and activities, but also understand the reasons behind them. At last, we wish that they all can have a better understanding of ancient Chinese culture. (School Teacher Education: Zhang Jiale)
