On October 31, 2018, the two-year science department and three-year Party branch of Nanjing Normal University Teacher Education College held a democratic life meeting on the theme of "reviewing 40 years of reform and opening-up" in Room 410 of Xue Ming Building, Xianlin Campus at 6:30 p.m.. The democratic life meeting was chaired by Zeng Haitao, Secretary of the branch of the Party of Science, and all the members of the branch participated in the meeting.

First of all, Zeng Haitao, Secretary of the Party branch, summarized the work of the Party branch since the beginning of the school, summarized and integrated the student files and party members' files, compiled party building materials and carried out branch committees, and proposed the frequency and content of branch activities, summer social practice of the Party branch, etc., which made the Party members understand the branch activities. He also said that they would actively participate in the future branch activities and play the role of the party members. Next, the Deputy Secretary Du Chenxi, propaganda member Jiang Li, organizing member He Jianhua and discipline member Wang Ya introduced themselves to facilitate smooth communication and communication cooperation between Party branch working members and Party members in the future.

Next, in the second part, Du Chenxi, Deputy Secretary of the Party branch, told us about "reviewing the fortieth anniversary of reform and opening-up", which mainly includes four aspects: the new announcement of reform and opening-up, the new formulation of reform and opening-up, the new requirements of reform and opening-up, and the enlightenment from the experience of reform and opening-up. And he emphasized that “China's reform and opening up will never stop" and we should look at reform and opening up from the perspective of reform and opening up, and carry forward traditional culture, etc, which was proposed by President Xi.

Finally, all members watched and appreciated the documentary “Yuanwang”, which was approved by Chairman Mao in the 1960s and was led and cared for by Premier Zhou Enlai. In an era when China's space science and technology undertakings were in urgent need of development, a generation of scientific researchers, guided by the 16-character policy of "serious, thoughtful, meticulous, stable and reliable, without fail", put forward by Premier Zhou Enlai, was undertaken by Jiangnan Shipyard, which took the form of cooperation among provinces, municipalities, ministries, factories, institutes and universities throughout the country. The first generation of ocean-going surveying vessels in China, Yuanwang No. 1 and Yuanwang No. 2, have been independently developed. The party members present had exchanges and discussions on this issue. The atmosphere was warm and the students expressed that they had gained a lot.

In this democratic life meeting, all Party members of the Party branch recalled the fortieth anniversary of reform and opening up and realized that the most important thing people learned in their life was a life style based on principles, which helped us to find out what the truth is and how to act accordingly. In the past 40 years of reform and opening up, people from all walks of life have made great efforts to contribute to the motherland. What we need now is to lay a good professional foundation and contribute our meager strength to the society.
