The “Red Candle” Youth Volunteer Association of the School of Teacher Education Successfully Held Patients-guiding Activity in the Province’s Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital

At about half past one on the afternoon of 20th December, Volunteers of The “Red Candle” Youth Volunteer Association of the School of Teacher Education gathered at Xueze Road metro station, heading to patients-guiding activity in the Province’s Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital for the last time of this term. The end of the term was approaching, thus there was three volunteers but all of them are full of earnest as well as responsibility.

At the beginning, volunteers got red waistcoats and went towards their own position according to the checklist. This time, three volunteers worked at Department of Ophthalmology, Pediatrician and General Internal Medicine separately.

Because it was the first time for volunteers at Department of Ophthalmology and General Internal Medicine to do the job, they’re not familiar to it. But all of them are aware of their responsibility and learned about the location of communal facilities such as washing room, boiled water room and elevator. They also actively learned about the rules of queue and numbers and accepted the suggestions in order to serve patients.

It was not easy to work in the Department of Pediatrician. There was so many children that the waiting room was clouded and noisy. Some kids was crying in their parents’ arms. Volunteers actively helped nurses in such an environment with all this pressure. They also helped patients to buy medical records books.

The activity of this term would come to an end, volunteers grow up a lot. They was not familiar with the activity and their obligation at the beginning but now, they are able to hold the activity on their own. On the purpose of helping patients and release the pressure of medical staffs, the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital offered feasible convenience for them. Volunteers are sure to receive a lot. Wish the patients-guiding activity become more and more successful. Let’s go forwards together and I will always serving for you on the medical road. (Liu Liyuan, School of Teachers’ Education)
