Provided feedback to Chinese and foreign teachers on developing their teaching pedagogies. Designed the framework of English curriculum for pre-school children and primary school students. Designed new teacher training programs and offer teacher training workshops. Did a lecture about foreign language teaching and learning.

Taught 11 Chinese children (the participants for my doctoral research) English individually for free for 40 minutes every week in the virtual classroom. I taught those K-8 students phonics and English picture books, and formed a reciprocal and trustworthy relationship with them.

2020-2021: Assisted with SSHRC Talent Partnership Application; University of Windsor

Over 20 institutions located in six countries participated in the international research application: Canada, China, Jamaica, Tanzania, the UK and the USA. Under the guidance of Dr. Shijing Xu and Dr. Michael Connelly, I assisted with the literature review of Cultural Heritage, Stewardship and Teacher Education in the field of Comparative Studies.

Went through the ethical review files for the reapplication of Reciprocal Learning Program (directed by Dr. Xu and Dr. Connelly) in the next round.

Attended the meetings organized by members and summarized the meeting minutes. It was directed by Dr. Robert McKay and Dr. Connelly.

2019-2020: Research Assistant of the Reciprocal Learning Program; University of Windsor

  • Analyzed Canadian pre-service teachers’ weekly reflection journal, summarized the themes such as teacher-student relationship, global competence, and their reflection on education in China.
  • Assisted in designing survey questions about the influence of reciprocal learning experiences on teacher’s global competence.
  • Assisted students from Teacher College, Faculty of Education, to apply for MitacsGlobal, helped them to choose the research topic, revised their proposal, checked the application package and remind them to submit drafts on time;
  • Transcribed all the classroom conversations of all the Canadian pre-service teachers 2019 cohort since 2019 fall to 2020 spring.

2010-2020: Graduate Assistant of EDUC-5207 Reciprocal Learning in Teacher Education Primary/Junior/Intermediate/Senior. University of Windsor

  • Confirmed available time for guest speaker’s presentation by sending emails, renewed the handbook for SWU cohort, added local school information and revise the format;
  • Prepared the Orientation and observed class at different schools during school practicum, assisted with Sister-school Skype meeting, did the translation for both sides, took notes and pictures. Provided feedback on students’ assignments.   
  • Revised the course syllabus, collected resources about Chinese and Canadian culture and education, check the weekly schedule and assessment;
  • Set class schedule for Chinese undergraduate students from Southwest University (SWU), arranged their school placement at local schools and confirmed school placement with principals and teachers
